SA Hunter was born in Panama City, Florida and grew up in Brunswick, Georgia and the Bronx in New York City. A self-taught artist, Hunter began painting professionally in 1995, has participated in numerous group shows, and her paintings hang in numerous public and private collections around the world.
“I paint the way it used to be,” says Hunter, “but now I am moving toward painting the way I want it to be.” The artist is an avid supporter and participant in the Sea Island Festival held annually on St. Simons Island. The festival celebrates the traditions and culture of the Gullah-Geechee on the South Carolina and Georgia coasts.
